Background
It is August 23, 2006, and I have come to accept that I won't be getting a car like my parents have been telling me for the past 4 months. All of a sudden, my mom approaches me and says "Get a list of cars that you would consider and I'll see what I can do. I'm not saying you're getting a Mustang at all because you still might not get a car." At that moment I went to the dark side; I actually considered pieces of rice just to get a car. Pretty low, I know, but what happened next was divine intervention.
My mom and I waited until my dad went to sleep that night so we wouldn't be caught locating a car online. We went to that oh-so-familiar Build Your Mustang site at forddirect.com. I was told before I started that a GT was out of the question, that it was a V6 or nothing. Point taken. I built my 6 with everything I wanted and the one requirement my mom had, side airbags. We searched every dealership's inventory in the area but none had anything close to what I wanted. My mom told me to pick a random zip code and see what would come up. We tried this 3 or 4 times gettin closer but still nothing was right. This was where that divine intervention happened. I said let me try 1 more time. This time I closed my eyes and hit 5 random numbers and if I wasn't there to witness it I would never believe what happened. The exact Mustang I built was at this dealership in Sussex about an hour away. But it got better. There wasn't just 1 exact match, there were 2, at the same dealership! All I could say at that point was "God wants me to have this Mustang."
The next day, after closing out several accounts in my name, my family went to Valley Ford(no longer in business) in Westwood with a check made out to $10,000 cash to make a down payment for a 2007 Mustang V6. We tried to have them do a swap for one of the Mustangs. That didn't happen so we ended up driving the distance to Sussex, NJ where Magarino Ford was located. This place is Mustang heaven! It is the #1 Mustang dealership in New Jersey. It easily had about 50+ Mustangs including Roush, Saleen, and GT500 models. The service was great. Our salesman, Eric Topps, made the deal go through quick. With all the paper signing and clearing the deal and a quick wash, we were in and out in about 2.5 hours. The Mustang we drove away with was a little less expensive than the other, but it still had everything I wanted plus a little. I didn't find it necessary while in the buiding process, but how could I turn down the added Comfort Group. It's great bbusting my dad about my Mustang having heated seats and his Lincoln Continental lacking them.
Now I have had the car for about 2 months and I am in the process of trying to make some money to feed the mod bug that bit me. Check out my Wishlist to see what I have planned!
